On the 14th of March, The Leadership Warehouse was invited to run a leadership session during the Electronics Bootcamp for Girls. The purpose of the Bootcamp was to expose young women and girls to the world of electronics, encourage more of them to explore STEM fields as well as create awareness around SDG goals. The event was organised by Innovation for Africa in celebration of the International Women's Day.
The Leadership Warehouse held a two-hour session that started with a team building event to kickstart conversations around teamwork, communication, leadership and strategy. We proceeded to take the young women through a deep dive into self where we looked at strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats then took a moment to have participants appreciate themselves and each other. Most said this part of the session made them feel better and highlighted many amazing qualities they usually overlooked.
The next path drew in lessons learnt from the SWOT analysis into the broader topic of Electronics and the 4th industrial revolution and how they can tap into opportunities in that area going forward. Some of the discussions around this were centred on viable technological options and solutions in the context of Zimbabwe and many began to see Electronics in everyday life and its role in development.
The leadership session ended with the young women working through some of the goals they wanted to tackle and their vision for the future.
